Lauren recently attended a two-day APA course in Melbourne, entitled “Shoulder – Level 1”. The course was run by Lyn Watson, a well-renowned Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapist who has spent the last 26 years specialising in the management of shoulder pathologies. The amount of information presented in the course was intense, but Lyn’s enthusiasm and breadth of experience kept everyone focussed and entertained for the two full days.
A significant section of the course focussed on instability of the shoulder joint in young athletes, as this is what Lyn sees most in her private practice and also what her most recent research has focussed on. Lyn also presented a lot of evidence-based information regarding a variety of other shoulder joint pathologies as well as numerous assessment and treatment techniques that could be applied to numerous patient presentations.
Lauren found the course to be very enjoyable and worthwhile, and is looking forward to putting her new knowledge and skills into practice.
